Denim is so versatile. It comes in many shades and works with just about any print or color. I would dare to say that denim is the new “Black”. So today the girls are in two different color of denim.
Bostyn’s in a darker wash paired with a dark striped skirt.
Blakely is in a lighter wash with a lighter striped pant.
Both these looks are super cute and a great way to wear you denim!

These little girls are just too fun to dress. Skinny jeans, a cute navy high-low shirt with lace accents and some cute little tan flats = a great Fall appropriate outfit.

I love navy….it’s really a color that can be worn all throughout the year. It’s great with white pants or a skirt in the summer; good with denim and yellow and orange in the fall; and works great with brown and even black in the winter.

Shorts and tights are totally in right now. This is so awesome because we can get a little more wear out of our shorts. Throw on some tights under any pair of shorts to spunk up and outfit and transition them into fall and even winter. We will definitely be using this trend…the girls have some super cute shorts that will look too cute with tights and flats, boots or little converse.
I just love fashion trends that let you get more wear out of seasonal clothes!

The girls are so fun to dress these days. I cant wait until the fall and winter for skinny jeans, sweaters and scarfs. But until then, we decided to have a casual day in our Nike attire. I love these shorts. I have several pairs myself, and now the girls have a few too. They’re great for toddlers….they are comfy and don’t fade or look worn.
PS- I love this grin Bostyn is wearing in her pictures….Not sure what she is doing except being silly.
It has begun!
The last couple of days we have had thunder showers in the late afternoon, leaving us with a somewhat cooler, fall like feeling. Therefore, I found it very appropriate to start in with the pumpkin dessert extravaganza.
I originally saw this recipe online, but made a few adjustments in order to just make 2. Also, I don’t usually use really butter if I can help it, so I substituted liquid butter spray in place. You can use whatever you like.
1/3 cup Pumpkin Puree
1/3 Cup Milk
1 Egg White
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
A few drops of Vanilla
Cinnamon to taste
1/3 Cup of Flour
1/4 tsp Baking Powder
2 TBS Brown Sugar
2 TBS Butter of Choice
1 Egg Yolk
1 TBS Four
2 TBS Brown Sugar
Cinnamon to Taste
1 TBS Butter of Choice
** Preheat oven to 400, grease 2 individual size ramekins.
For pumpkin mixture- Mix all ingredients and divide into both ramekins.
For cobbler topping- Mix all dry ingredients. Melt butter. Add Butter and Egg Yolk to dry ingredients until combined. Add to top of pumpkin mixture.
For streusel- Mix all dry ingredients, then cut in butter and add to the top of cobbler topping.
Place ramekins on a baking sheet and cook for 25 minutes. Let cool 5 minute before serving. **
So,….maybe not 50 shades, but a few shades of grey. I love to wear grey as a good neutral base. You can practically wear anything with it, black, brown, gold, silver….you name it. Today, I decided to keep it simple with a few different shades of grey…..dark grey tank, light grey shorts, and a multi color grey scarf. Jewelry as well was kept simple…silver
PS-Sorry for the blurry pictures. I usually take pictures in the afternoon with good natural light. These were taken in the morning….lighting, not so good.
Vintage can be interpreted many different ways….this just so happens to be a “Vintage Tee” so therefore I am calling this look vintage.
Lately I have been spending a few minutes browsing through the guys section just to see what I could incorporate into my wardrobe. I’ve noticed that guys clothing is actually a great place to find some basic things like oxford button up shirts and fun tees and tanks. This Ponies Forever shirts was actually on clearance at Target!
This also rings true for children’s clothes. Bostyn and Blakely will be sporting some cute new little boys t-shirts this fall/winter season. They are great for layering. In the picture below the girls are wearing some fun boys onsies from the Gap.
Crockpots are the best! This meal was so easy thanks to my good ole trusty crockpot. I just put one onion chopped in the pot with a peppercorn crusted beef roast, cooked it for about 8 hours on medium heat and VIOLLA!
Served it over buttered egg noodles, sautéed spinach and roasted butternut squash. MMMMM….nothing like a hearty home cooked meal!
Scarfs are a great accessory, but most people think of them as a fall/winter accessory. That is not the case! You can spunk up an outfit with a scarf during any season. Especially Summer. It’s great to throw on a tank top and shorts and dress up or add some color with a light weight scarf. Try it out.
Most of the scarfs I have are from Old Navy (including this one) I also get a lot at Target, Charlotte Russe, and Forever 21.
These little nuggets were awfully cute today in their little pink striped dresses. Bostyn’s baby doll even matched. (She’s chewing on her toes) Blakely was all grins, even doing the motions to The Itsy Bitsy Spider….one of our favorites right now!
Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
So for the most part, I try to eat healthy. I say this hesitantly because I am not a complete health nut. I totally love going to Olive Garden for the never ending pasta bowl and eating sweets like crazy. But, I feel completely ok because about 75% of the time I eat and cook as healthy as I can. These were some new recipes I tried last week and really enjoyed.
The stuffed portabella was delicious. I just took a mushroom cap and filled it with sautéed onions and peppers and a little bit of leftover steak we had the day before. I baked it on 425 for about 15 minutes and then topped with a piece of swiss cheese.
I have been experimenting with smoothies in the afternoon for a quick, healthy snack for the girls and I. I have been using unsweetened vanilla almond milk. And surprisingly it works great and as very low calories (30 per cup). This smoothie was just: 1 Cup Vanilla Almond Milk, 2 Cups Crushed Ice, 2 Tbs Peanut Butter, 1 Banana. Blend and enjoy!
The brownies were great, a cross between zucchini bread, banana bread and a brownie. YUM!
1 Banana Mashed
1/2 Cup Splenda
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Wheat Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 Cup Cocoa
1/2 tsp Salt
1 Cup Shredded Zucchinis (about 1 medium zucchini)
1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips (divided in and on top)
** Mix all ingredients and spread into a greased square pan. Will be thick. Top with chocolate chips. Back at 350 for 20 minutes. **
