Brrrrrr….Our front has hit, and it is COLD. Not just cool, but COLD.
So, I thought it would be fun to build a cold weather outfit. Starting with the an ordinary outfit and then building it up to a very fall/winter appropriate one.
Let’s get started.
To start with let’s take a cozy sweater in a very neutral grey, paired with skinny jeans and tall wedge boots. Pretty Easy.
Next, we add a hat…..I am loving hats for the season. So fun, cute and they actually really do keep your head warm.
Ok, so now for a coat. Here’s a couple options:
1. A simple grey pea coat.
2. You can jazz it up a bit with a fun colored coat.
So, that’s that!
Of course you can always add cute gloves and a scarf if you need it. Today was not THAT cold, but I’m totally looking forward to adding a few more steps when the weather calls for it.

Sometimes it is so hard to find trendy stuff for the girls. They make it for the big girls but not so much for the babies. It’s getting better, but I still have to search pretty hard to find what I’m looking for. A perfect example is these faux leather (kind of snake skin) type of leggings. Finally found some at Walmart….who’d of guessed. In the Halloween stuff no less. Oh well, works for me!

This is such a fun look. I don’t know what it is about wearing black and dark lips, but it kind of just makes you feel a little sultry.
Plus, I love studs…so I through them in as purse and bracelet.

So….I’m so excited! Hobby Lobby sells cute kid jewelry! YAY!
I have a deep love for little kid jewelry. So, when I found out that hobby lobby was selling it (and it is super cute), I had to take a look. And I was pumped to see that it is not only super cute, but also very affordable.
These are one of the ones they are selling. How adorable…..yellow and silver paired great with grey and silver polka dot peplum shirts and leopard skinny jeans.
Ok let’s talk about the bun. So, I have to be honest, this is my first real experience with doing a sock bun type of thing. I usually wear my hair down and big. I always have, that’s just me….but since everyone is in this bun craze, I decided to see what it was all about.
The verdict is…..I don’t necessarily love it. I got ready this morning and have changed clothes about 3 times since. I just couldn’t get the feel right to match this somewhat small bun on top of my head.
So for those of you that have a lot of hair or long hair and can throw your hair up like this anytime and it look awesome. Good for you! But for me, with mid length, fine hair,….there are a few things that I have learned.
This is not a tutorial on how to do a bun, that’s pretty self explanatory. This is more of a few tips that helped me adjust to seeing myself wearing this style.
1. It doesn’t have to be a perfect bun, in fact if it’s a little undone it looks more naturally.
2. Wear EARRINGS! I felt very boyish with my hair all up in a tight little bun, so earrings of any kind helps you feel a bit more girly.
3. Do your makeup. Just because it looks like you didn’t spend much time on your hair doesn’t mean you have to look like your not put together. Color on your face will draw people to look at it and not think you just rolled out of bed and didn’t get ready.
4. My final tip is just a personal preferences. Wear either a collared shirt of some kind or a scarf. I’m not exactly sure why, but it just make the whole look look better.
So there you have it. If you haven’t tried the whole bun thing, do. I can’t say that I will be going to this hairstyle often, but at least I do know how to style it as a complete look when I do.
A cat and a mouse, that’s what the girls were for Halloween this year. And might I add that I think they very possibly may have been the cutest mouse and cat combo that I have ever seen.
They did great going up to all the houses in our neighborhood and saying “trick or treat” and “thank you”.
Here are a few shots from the evening.
Blakely as a little black cat.
Bostyn as a little grey mouse.
Paisley as a pink princess.
Since my hair is now its new “fall” color, I thought it was only appropriate to dress very fall-ish as well.
