I love baking goodies and making them look cute! The girls and I went around to our neighbors yesterday to deliver Halloween treats. You would be surprised how weird it is here to do such a thing. Ha.

Anyway…. Happy Halloween!!!

I just CAN’T wait for cooler weather, and a chance to really wear some of my fall favorites. This “Skimono” is perfection. The color, pattern and style of this make it super versatile. It can be wore as seen above and also as a big blaket scarf.  Keep and eye out for future post featuring this jewel again very soon.

I just love this denim dress. It’s great paired with boots for a fall look for still warm weather, but when it starts getting cooler it will be perfect paired with leggings and cozy boots.

Even though it is literally high 80s & low 90s here in DFW. I am anxiously waiting the fall weather I’m used to. So this “Skimono” is my love right now.  I picked this one up along with another in store. This one is not available online, but should still be in stock!

I’m sure I’m not alone in my love for a good flannel shirt  for the fall/winter. I recently found this one at Forever 21. It’s super comfy and long enough to wear with leggings. Plus, the classic black and white plaid is perfection.

Herringbone Weathered Wood Wall

SONY DSC

Over the last couple of months living here in the new home, Corey and I have only been able to work on a couple of projects. He’s been traveling a lot for work and the girls and I have been making lots of trips visiting family and friends, so we just haven’t had a ton of time to work on much.

Our master bedroom was not something we had planned on doing much too yet. It was on the list to do a bit of work on the fireplace shared by the master and bath, but other than that …it’s pretty put together. (PS…I know it looks weird from the inside that we have no blinds or curtains, but we have solar screens that you cant see through so it’s all good.)

Anyway, we ended up getting a new bed and didn’t have a headboard for it yet. On the way to church one Sunday morning there was a pile of junk that had a free sign on it. Of course my mind went crazy when I saw about 4 sides of old weathered fence. This was a pretty spur of the moment project that I think turned out pretty awesome. Plus….totally 100% Free. Can’t beat that!!!

Here’s how we did it.

This is the before…pretty plain.

After pulling the bed out, we mapped out on the wall where the center is and all of the studs.

Then we took all the pickets off of the fence and took the nails out. After that we cut them all to the same length. It will depend on the look you are going for as to what size you cut them to. It really will not matter, the process is the same.

Next, start nailing the boards up in a 90 degree angle. We used a nail gun which made the process much faster and you can’t actually see the nails.

After cutting some of the pieces to fill in the gaps, we framed it out and Ta-Da! I just love it. It works as a headboard, but will also be an accent wall whenever we decide to get a headboard!(I have my eye on a cream colored upholstered one.)
