Better late than never….right?
To say that I love Christmas would be an understatement. Everything about Christmas makes me happy. I love family, good food, festive drinks, Christmas lights, Jesus…..and decorating. So naturally we have an undisclosed amount of Christmas trees in our home this year. With that being said, I thought I’d share a few tips on decorating a tree.
Let’s start at the top. You can literally use anything for a tree topper. I love the traditional angles or stars and I also love the crazy glitter picks sticking out every which way, but for this tree in particular I went with something alittle simpler and more natural. Twig bells with a few green leafs and berries made a perfect topper.
As for ornaments, I went with soft felt ones that matched my color scheme (rustic, traditional). Notice also that there are several little knit stockings that work great as ornaments on this tree do the size.
I also made several pinecone ornaments by simply gluing a ribbon hook and festive bow on.
Depending on the size of the tree, you can also use regular sized stockings as embellishments. To add interests I used some ornament that there are only on or two the same on the whole tree. ( wooden sleigh and white fur snow ball). This helps draw and catch attention.
Ribbon is a great way to fill your tree and add more fullness. This tree has several different widths and styles of ribbon woven in. Also, as you can see pictured, there are several different “ribbon bundles” that are a combination of three different ribbons bundled together and then tied deep in the tree to look as though they are coming from within. When choosing ribbon for this, make sure to choose different widths, colors and styles to make it unique. Also try making each bundle unique in how you combine the ribbons.
Garlands are a great addition to a tree. I like using floral garlands as well as other more traditional ones like the felt balls.
When you get to the bottom of the tree, remember that it’s not just for presents, Make it cozy and inviting. We have a basket with a warm down blanket, a lantern. some festive pinecones. On the other side with have a little chair with a basket full of some Christmas toys of the girls. As far as a tree skirt goes….you can use anything. I had several pieces of scrap burlap in read and a dark tan. I just draped them around the bottom of the tree and Ta-Da! A tree skirt!
Just remember, when decorating a tree, every one is different. They all have a unique style and should reflect your personal style and liking. These are just a few tips I used for our main tree. I am always working on them. I will probable add something more or rearrange several more times before Christmas….but that is all part of the fun!!!
With Christmas right around the corner…literally. I thought it would be fun to share a few fashion gift ideas for the lady in your life. These are great for anyone and also pretty budget friendly.
Steve Madden Tillis Duck Booties (similar HERE)
Tall Hunter Boots (HERE)
Let’s start with the bigger items first. Boots are a great gift this time of the year. Being in a climate that is cold and often wet during the winter months, these two pairs are my personal favorites and also very practical.
The first pair are by Steve Madden. I love these because they are warm without being extremely heavy. This pair in particular has a great comfy plaid pattern in side. Sperry also makes some that are super cute, but can be a little more heavy duty. Hunter boots also make a great gift! The come in all different colors ad you can get them in a shorter style as well. They are perfect for the rain as well as the snow.
Pajamas are such a idea gift for guys and girls. Colder weather calls for cozying up by the fire in you PJs. I personally have been loving the cute version of a night shirt that is on trend right now. Victoria Secret has some that are really cute, but these are a few I’ve been in love with.
I may be scarf obsessed! More than likely, the lady you are buying for is too. Here are a few of may all time favorites. Of course, I am still adding to that. 🙂
Hats are also such and easy gift idea. You can literally go into any store and find a pretty cute beanie that fits the persons style you are shopping for. I love looking at places like TJ Max and Sam Moon for some fun inexpensive options.
We went to see Santa and Mrs. Clause year and the girls just loved it. They jumped right into their laps and started telling them everything they wanted.
After visiting Santa out Elfs, Zizzy and Ella, showed up. The girls are so fun to watch. They talk to the elfs and are so excited to see where they show up in the morning.
Bostyn was a big help with putting up the pink tree this year. I wasn’t sure I was going to bother putting it up, but decided to go ahead and I’m so glad I did. She was mesmerized by the pretty ornaments, especially the pink fairy. Blakely helped me with the garland outside.. I think she liked being outside when it was cold so she could wear her hat. ha
My mother has been spoiling the girls with the 33 days of Christmas gifts. No…there is no such thing…but apparently she got so much stuff she wrapped it all up and gave it to us over Thanksgiving. So the girls have been going crazy about opening a gift everyday and seeing what they got. Christmas Toe Socks and Slippers & My Little Pony Ornaments.( Pictured above)
Other than that we have definitely been getting in the Christmas spirit. Mansfield put on a great Christmas parade and lighting of the tree with a firework show afterward. I Love everything about Christmas and it is so much fun seeing the girls truly be excited about Christmas and …Baby Jesus.
