Red Velvet Brownies…...and Red Heels!
Well,…as you can see, I had a SWEET TOOTH today (ok, like everyday)! So what better recipe to try out than and ooey, gooey, delicious Red Velvet Brownie (with the addition of a little dollop of cream cheese icing)?
Oh, and just to be festive….why not throw on some red heels. I mean, my kitchen needs to feel special too…right?!!!
Pretty easy recipe. Just be aware that it takes ALOT of red food coloring… “ALOT” meaning like the whole bottle.
So, here’s how it’s done:
Red Velvet Brownies
(adapted from Smells Like Home)
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
4 eggs, at room temp
2 oz red food coloring
4 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
6 TBSP unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter and flour a 9X13 glass pan.
In stand mixer fitted with paddle, beat together butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each. Then stir in food coloring and vanilla. Mix until incorporated.
Mix flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder in separate bowl and add in to mixture slowly. Do no over mix.
The batter will be thick. Make sure it is well incorporated and pour into pan.
Bake for 30-40 minutes.
I cooked mine for 35 mins and it left a thin crust and an ooey gooey center. YUM!
Cool and serve.
I added some cream cheese frosting just to make it a little more decedent.
